Three Things for Thursday – 20th May 2021

Good Morning! Another week has flown by in the blink of an eye and another grey hair found on my head – not that I count them or anything! Just a wee reminder that WLSEN is here to promote your organisations, so if you have anything you want sharing, be it a job vacancy or event coming up, let me know and I will get it out there for you.

1/ WLSEN Network Manager – So, I’m sure you will all be very pleased to hear that we have a new recruit! Linda White will be joining WLSEN as the new Network Manager on 21st June. I’m sure she will introduce herself to you all when she starts and her feet have touched the ground!

3/ SENScot All SEN Sessions – There is a couple of interesting SEN sessions coming up in June – Social Enterprise Tackling Health Equalities, Thursday 10th June, 2-3:30pm.”It will focus on the role of social enterprise in tackling health inequalities, exploring work prior to Covid and highlighting more recent activity as health inequalities have worsened across Scotland. You will hear from SEN members active in this area and explore some of the issues experienced in demonstrating impact” and Social Enterprise & Disability Employment, Friday 11th June, 10-11:30am.  Bridget Sly and Andrew Busby from Govt’s Disability Employment Team will talk about the policy context, progress (incl the impact of covid) and future plans.  Heather Hall from social enterprise The Usual Place, will speak about the incredible work they do to support and create employment for disabled people and also Unltd.

2/ Job Vacancies – The Larder have three job vacancies, Youth Worker, Training Coordinator and Chef Associate.  The Bridge Community Project have a vacancy for a Wellbeing Fundraiser.
