What’s happening in the Sector –

Intermediaries Senscot and Social Firms Scotland (SFS), will merge as of 1st July 2020. The new body, Social Enterprise Connect Scotland, will represent the interests of grassroot social and community enterprises and also social firms, across Scotland. For more information, click here.

SE Policy and Practice Conference, run by CEIS, will be held on the 2nd September 2020. The event, this year, is virtual and free of charge! To book click here.

Free membership to any Scottish social enterprise with a turnover of under £100k and also to those who have been financially impacted buy Covid-19, is being offered by Social Enterprise Scotland . For more information, click here.

Member’s responding – the third sector was mentioned in the recent report from The Scottish Government Economic Recovery Group, regarding social and economic recovery. A group of representatives from West Lothian’s Third Sector, are coming together later this week to draft a response. If you’ve any thoughts you’d like added please let us know by 12 noon on Thursday.

Funding –

National Lottery – until at least October 2020 they will prioritise applications which are Covid-19 related e.g. supporting those at high risk of Covid, supporting those facing challenges caused by Covid and supporting communities to connect around Covid. Garfield Weston Foundation – A family-founded, charitable grant-making foundation which supports a wide range of causes across the UK. For more information click here

People’s Postcode Trust – next round of funding is open 4th to 19th August and the focus will be is promoting human rights, Combatting discrimination and Preventing poverty – check their website for more information.

Firstport – Their funding programmes are currently on hold but will be re-opening again very soon. Keep an eye on their website for updates.

Support –

We still have a wee bit of money in our WLSEN Covid Support Fund. We can offer short term, focused support that would be delivered by Community Enterprise. If you are interested give Diane a call – 07889 720171 or email.

Partnership working – There seems to be a move towards investment in the third sector becoming more contract based. Have a look at P4P’s website for support and guidance. Their 10 stage procurement guide is particularly helpful.
